First Visit

Your initial visit with Dr. Christopher Kye is an important step towards your mental health care. Scheduled for 90 minutes, this comprehensive session is designed to establish a thorough understanding of your needs and concerns.

During your first appointment, you can expect the following:

Discussion of Your Medical and Psychiatric History: Dr. Kye will review your medical records, discuss your health history, and ask about any previous psychiatric treatments or medications. This is important for developing an understanding of your overall health and the context of your current concerns.

Assessment of Current Symptoms: You will be asked detailed questions about your current mental health symptoms, their onset, and how they impact your daily life. This helps in accurately diagnosing and tailoring a treatment plan that is specific to your needs.

Evaluation Plans: Depending on your symptoms, Dr. Kye may discuss the need for any further diagnostic evaluations or tests. This could include psychological assessments or coordinating with other specialists if needed.

Discussion of Treatment Options: At the end of the session, Dr. Kye will discuss potential treatment options.

Next Steps: You will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss any concerns you may have about the proposed treatments. The goal is to make sure you feel informed and comfortable with the care plan.

We aim to make your first visit as informative and reassuring as possible, setting the stage for effective treatment and a collaborative patient-doctor relationship.

Preparation for the Appointment

To help us provide the best care possible, please bring the following items to your first appointment:

Photo ID: A valid driver's license, state ID, or passport to confirm your identity.

Medical History: Any relevant medical records that provide insight into your general health and any previous medical treatments you have received.

List of Current and Previous Medications: A detailed list of all medications you are currently taking, including over-the-counter drugs, prescription medications, and any supplements or herbal products.

Previous Psychiatric Evaluations and Treatments: Any records or documentation of previous psychiatric care, including notes from past psychiatrists or therapists, diagnostic evaluations, and information about any psychiatric medications you have used in the past.

Insurance Information: Although Dr. Kye’s practice does not directly bill insurance, bringing your insurance card can be useful if there are laboratory tests or referrals to other specialists who may accept your insurance.

Payment Method: Since the practice accepts debit and credit cards, please bring a form of payment for your appointment.

Pre-Appointment Forms: Bringing the completed forms saves time, but this is not required. If you are unable to complete these before your appointment, please come 15 minutes early to review and sign the packet.

These items will help ensure that Dr. Kye has all the information necessary to provide a personalized and effective treatment plan during your initial visit. If you have any questions about preparing for your appointment, please contact our office in advance. We are here to assist you every step of the way.

Family Involvement in Appointments

For Patients Under 18

All minors must be accompanied by at least one parent or legal guardian at every appointment. This ensures that guardians are fully informed about the patient's treatment plan and can support the patient's journey to improved mental health.

For Adult Patients

Dr. Kye strongly encourages adult patients to bring a family member to their first appointment. Involving family members can provide additional perspectives that are invaluable in understanding the patient’s situation comprehensively. This collaborative approach helps to enhance the effectiveness of the initial consultation and ongoing treatment, as different insights from family members can contribute to a more complete picture and help everyone involved gain more from the appointment.

We believe involving family members supports better communication and treatment outcomes and fosters a supportive environment for the patient's mental health journey.
